NEWSPAPER READING CONTESTThe Literacy Club, in collaboration with the Tamil Ilakkiya Mandram, held Newspaper Reading Contest for students in all departments on July 31, 2024, from 11:40 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Every student received a copy of The Hindu Tamil Thisai newspaper, and they had thirty minutes to read it. Subsequently, all the students answered various questions based on the published news articles. Students were briefed about the values of reading newspapers every day to widen their outlook which is an essential feature of modern life and to enrich their knowledge. The purpose of this contest was to enhance the fact that reading is an integral part of student’s learning experience and to initiate discussion pertaining to the world’s current events. All the students actively participated in the contest and enthusiastically assured to continue reading newspaper and to include it in their daily routine. The event was a success as it helped students understand the significance of reading newspaper.
