Dr. Uma Shankari began by emphasizing the importance of selecting a relevant and focused research topic. She guided the audience on how to identify gaps in existing literature and formulate research questions that contribute to the academic field. She stressed the need for thorough literature reviews to establish a strong foundation for the research.
