The Department of Microbiology organised an Industrial Visit to OPRL Biosciences Private Limited Chennai on 04^th August 2023. 26 students from II B.Sc. Microbiology visited the industry. The purpose of this visit was to provide industrial exposure to in the field of Molecular biology with the objective of providing them research skills in different sectors which also helps to combine theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge.

During the morning session, Mrs. Shanthi (Research Associate) introduced students about the research activities in the laboratory.  She also explained how to isolate the DNA, RNA and Plasmid from bacteria. Students learned how to prepare blotting apparatus, shakers, different types of Electrophoresis apparatus, the Gel casting tray, Power pack, Comb cutting. They were also given a hands-on experience of handling the micropipette, how to prepare agarose gel, how to load the DNA sample in the agarose well, transformation techniques, different types of shakers used and fluorescence plates. The industrial visit to the OPRL Biosciences Private Limited was an informative, interesting and successful visit.
