16.08.2024 - USER ORIENTATION & INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAM
In collaboration with the Government Public Library, the Department of Library launched a User Orientation and Information Literacy Program on August 16, 2024. The event was chaired by Dr. M. Kavitha, the District Library Officer of Chennai, who delivered a special address emphasising the critical importance of information literacy in today’s digital world. Following this, the Mr. C.A. Mohanarangam, Librarian from the Government Public Library delivered a special address discussing the evolving role of libraries and the extensive resources and Library Membership they offer. Dr. R. Chandrasekar, a professional dedicated to helping others through social work was also a special invitee for the event. He showcased a collection of antique coins, demonstrating a passion for history and artefacts that exists alongside a career focused on societal welfare. The session was attended by 600 first year students and they were delighted to be a part of the session.
