The Department of Microbiology at St. Anne’s Arts and Science College organized a one?day industrial visit in collaboration with ImmuGenix Biosciences, Chennai, on 19 July 2025, for final?year B.Sc. Microbiology students. The program featured a demonstration session on Sanger sequencing, PCR, and Real?Time PCR, beginning with Dr. V. Naveen Kumar, Director & CEO of ImmuGenix, who inaugurated the session and introduced Good Laboratory Practices. This was fllowed by Dr. P. Thiagarajan, RQA Manager (Quality Complaints), who explained the operation and applications of key microbiology instruments—including ultracentrifuge, dry and wet water baths, magnetic stirrer, shaking incubator, UV transilluminator, sterilization equipment, and biosafety cabinets and safety levels. In the final session, Ms. Bharathi Jaya, Lab Manager and Scientist, along with Ms. S. Sowmiya (Scientist) and Ms. A. Arthi (Research Assistant), guided students through hands?on demonstrations of Sanger sequencing, PCR, and Real?Time PCR techniques. The students actively participated in the session, gaining practical insights into advanced molecular diagnostic methods, and received certificates from ImmuGenix at the end of the visit.
